Introduction

 

The art of practicing Tai Chi with a sword has been developing for over 4,000 years. While it can be used for defense purposes, the true meaning and power of the practice is much deeper.


In East Asian wisdom, ‘ki’ is the energy that exists throughout everything in the universe. It is within you and all around you. Tai Chi uses energy meridian stretching, the breath, and flowing formations to awaken practitioners’ ability to feel their own energy.


In wooden sword practice, the sword becomes an extension of your energy, training your body and mind to develop sharp and penetrating power. In this elegant and flowing art form, the practitioner learns to cultivate mindfulness alongside strength.

Course Overview

In this experiential course, Martial Arts GrandMaster Yoo helps you strengthen your body, sharpen your mind, and access a deep well of spiritual confidence. Through 4 fully guided instructional videos, you’ll learn to use the sword effectively and project ‘ki’ energy through the sword in a moving meditation practice. This course is suitable for both experts and beginners and will help you increase your internal power.


The course contains 4 parts:


  1. Chapter 1: Basic Sword Anatomy
  2. Chapter 2: Basic Sword Use
  3. Chapter 3: Energy Activation & Circulation Sword Form
  4. Chapter 4: Energy Strengthening Sword Form

 

About the Sword:

The HSP Korean Wooden Sword available in our shop is perfect for this training. Crafted from a single piece of wood, it is lightweight and sturdy, making it suitable for beginners. It comes in natural wood color or cherry black.

He holds the title of Grand Master in martial arts with a 7th-degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, a 4th-degree Black Belt in Hapkido, a 4th-degree Black Belt in Kum Ye Do (swordsmanship), a 3rd-degree Black Belt in Judo, and he has served as the Demonstration Coach at the World Taekwondo Championships.
