Introduction

 

Deep Stretch Power Yoga features exercises that help you stretch, relax, and connect your mind and body. Start your day with a full-body workout that energizes while it relaxes. Change your energy completely with the guidance of highly experienced Body & Brain Yoga instructors.

Class Outline

 

In a typical class, you'll experience:

  1. Stretching

    Deep stretches in harmony with the breath open the meridians (energy channels), blood vessels, and lymph vessels to circulate energy in the body. Improves flexibility and oxygenates muscles and organs.

  2. Dynamic Movement

    Repetitive, rhythmic movements release tension and slow down brainwaves to a calm and deeply meditative state.

  3. Deep Breathing

    Energy is accumulated and released through the breath. Learn how to gather energy in the core and promote flow from the head to the toe.

  4. Energy Sensation

    Become one with the energy of life flowing inside of you as your mental chatter calms. Experience deep relaxation while maintaining enhanced focus and mindfulness.

  5. Finishing Exercises

    Light stretching to wake up your body and brain make you ready to face your day.

Dawn is the director of Body & Brain Yoga in New York East region and is a wife and mother of one. She has been a Body & Brain yoga instructor since 2003. Dawn teaches where she grew up, so she has a built-in relationship with the people in her community. Since her days as a student at William & Mary, Dawn has been committed to social justice and community development. She tries to integrate this into her practice and teaching. Even with all of her responsibilities, Dawn still finds time to teach a local class for people with Cerebral Palsy. She wants to set a good example for her son. "If I want him to be happy and fulfilled, then I have to create and choose that in my own life."
