When your direction in life is feeling a little fuzzy, use Crown Chakra energy to point your head in the right direction.
Crown Chakra, also called the Thousand Petaled Lotus, governs Cosmic Consciousness and your sense of direction and purpose in life. It is the spiritual master and the nexus of the cosmos that unites the energies of the lower six chakras with the energy of the universe in divine union.
The gateway to higher dimensions, Crown Chakra is the culmination of all seven chakras and signifies illumination, shining the universal rays of divine integration throughout your body and into the world. The more we connect our bodies with higher dimensional powers, the more it is essential that we are centered and grounded. Without grounding, the ethereal energies of this chakra can cause us to lose touch with reality.
The Crown Chakra’s color is violet and is located at the top of the head, the crown. The crown of the head is also the Baek-hwe meridian point, the most significant point in the body according to the Dahn Yoga energy medicine system. The Baek-hwe is so powerful the entire body and chakra system can be activated through single needle acupunture.
Opening the Crown Chakra activates our Brain Operating System
. It allows us access to that which exists beyond the limitations of earthly dimensions or planes of reality, and even the limitations of the other six chakras.
Perceiving our physical lives through the Crown Chakra allows us access to multidimensional consciousness and the guidance we need to activate our life purpose.
A balanced Crown Chakra supports expansive awareness without being overly emotional or out of touch with reality. A highly energized, open and vibrating seventh chakra makes us balanced, literally. We are physically coordinated and are easy and graceful in our bodies. Emotionally, we are compassionate, full of empathy and have a true sense of unity and justice.
Crown Chakra opens our mind to new thoughts, ideas and exploration. When we are balanced and fully activated in our Crown Chakra, we can see ourselves as both the observer and creator of our own reality. We see ourselves as the spark of consciousness and are aware that we lit the spark.
Physically, the Crown Chakra is related to the brain, cerebrum, top of the head and the entire nervous system. Some symptoms of imbalance include dizziness, headaches (especially migraines), multiple sclerosis, some cancers, genetic disorders, autoimmune diseases and mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia and multiple personalities.
Spiritually, the Crown Chakra’s element is Cosmic Energy, that unseen vibrational force that exists outside our physical body. Some people call it spirit, others say it is Divine Consciousness. The lesson of the Crown Chakra is to live in divine union with the Earth and the cosmos.
Just as the Root Chakra represents our connection to our mother and Mother Earth, the Crown Chakra represents our relationship to our father and the Divine Father. Because the Crown Chakra represents unity with all life, we will feel a sense of isolation from the divine as well as humanity if our relationship with our father is deficient. Also, when the Crown Chakra is weak we may be clumsy, accident prone, feel dizzy, become closed minded and tend to suffer a lack of consciousness or even a crisis of faith.
Signs of an overactive Crown Chakra can include overly zealous spirituality, spiritual obsession, feeling responsible for all of humanity and neglecting your personal well being. This can take the form of proselytizing, not getting enough sleep or lacking personal hygiene, obsessively searching for answers, either scientifically or religiously, and a deep need to be ‘right’ whether that be in politics, religion or science.
Here are two meditations you can use to clear and balance the Crown Chakra:
Soul Guidance Exercise
You don’t have to wait an eternity to connect with your soul’s higher purpose. When you want some practical, down-to-earth guidance from above, use this exercise to reach upward and feel the energy of the “source” to give you peace of mind, harmony and that ‘all is as it should be’ feeling.
In a quiet place, surround yourself with as much violet light and energy as you can. Violet candles, artwork, fabrics, pictures of violet flowers or, even better, the real thing, will work.
Find a deep violet object you can easily hold or place in front of you to use as a meditation aid. If you don't have anything readily available, you can draw a violet circle on a piece of paper, or use the image at the top of this article. Or you can use the desktop chakra guide from our Chakra Healing Kit
Take some deep breaths to relax then, place your violet shape or object a few inches from your eyes and inhale its color deeply, pouring it into your eyes, nose, throat. Drink it into your body and let your skin absorb it.
When you feel saturated with violet light, ask your higher power for extra energy to seek answers to your most puzzling problems or fulfillment of your deepest desires. Ask for divine guidance to see the signposts and symbols in your daily life that will point to your answers.
Write down any thoughts or images that came to mind during this meditation, tuck them away, let them sink into your subconscious and see what emerges in your life in the week following this exercise.
Crown Chakra Affirmation
This is a mind-calming exercise that will send vibrational signals to your brain and send your truest intentions into the world.
Place your hands at the top of your head with your palms gently embracing your temples. You can also make a tent with your fingers, pressing your fingertips together and press your thumbs against your temples. Choose the hand position most comfortable for you. Close your eyes, imagine a beautiful, violet disc rotating clockwise just above the crown of your head.
Take 3 deep breaths. On the inhale, state aloud “I inhale the light of wisdom, truth and divinity.” And state “I am perfect and complete, embraced by the light,” with each exhale.
