Seattles Yoga Teacher of the Year Shares Favorite CYE Tools
SHARE
Johwatong, chosen spiritual name of Danielle Gaudette, is the center manager of Ravenna Park Body & Brain Yoga. She was voted “Seattle’s Yoga Instructor of the Year” in 2015 and has been an instructor for over 13 years. We interviewed her to see what products she loves to use and how they’ve helped her change her energy and her life.

"My passion is to help people to connect with their Souls, to be the brightest Light that they can be. I like to do this through leading special classes and workshops and writing in my blog. My vision is to truly create a world where we can live harmoniously together with a healthy Earth and a happy, peaceful humanity." —Johwatong

I actively seek natural healing products that help me maintain my health and happiness in my daily life. ChangeYourEnery.com has so many great products that it was hard for me to choose my favorites! But as we are in the grips of winter, these are the tools I love to help me stay healthy and maintain high body heat.

My recent discovery from the CYE.com online shop is the Heat Stone and the Heat Stone belt.  As the cold and damp Seattle winter progresses, I am finding it more and more difficult to keep warm.  First thing in the morning, I plug the belt in while I’m getting ready.  It only takes about five minutes to heat up so it’s very convenient.

I wear the belt while I am driving to work. It keeps my abdomen and thighs warm, and the heat radiates down to my feet. I continue to wear it at work while I am just walking around getting things done, or if I am sitting at the computer for a length of time. The heat lasts for about 2 hours, and when I need to, I just plug it in again.

Sometimes I turn the belt around so that the stone is on my back. The great thing about the belt is that it's adjustable, so I can have it pressing against my kidneys or lower down on my sacrum. The heat radiates through my back and into my abdomen, which relaxes my lower back and helps me to keep my mind calm and centered.

If I am too cold, I easily tense up all over and cannot focus well. So I have been using it everyday and find it the most effective thing so far to keep me warm and comfortable through all these rainy days.

In this cold weather around flu season, the Bamboo Salt is one of my must-have products that I carry with me at all times. If I put a small amount on my tongue and hold it there, generate a lot of saliva and then swallow it all, it relieves any scratchiness or soreness in my throat and speeds up recovery when I’ve lost my voice. I just can’t believe how quickly it works! It also repairs any sores in or around the mouth.

You can gargle with it or mix a little bit of it with water, turning it into a paste, and apply it to cold sores and even acne. It will dry them up.  I like to take bit of it if I feel a cold coming on, and sometimes I actually put it in my tea with lemon and honey. It might sound strange, I know, but it is delicious! Since it is such high quality salt, I like to use it with my hard boiled eggs as well! It is very versatile.

I always try to stay up to date with all of the great books that are offered in CYE’s online library. Right now I am reading Living Tao: Timeless Principles for Everyday Enlightenment by Ilchi Lee.  I keep it next to my bed and make sure to read a few pages before I sleep at night. I like for the principles to be the last piece of information I take in before I fall asleep. The book is written in a very clear and organized way, which helps me easily digest the principles that are being delivered.

I really feel like Tao principles are like vitamins for my Soul. If I am struggling with something or having negative thoughts, the healing information clears my mind and eases my heart. They give me space to reflect on myself, as well as provide me with guidance on how to improve myself and my life. The more I read of this book, the more I want to read. I always close it feeling more hopeful than when I picked it up. :)
