A commitment to self-development, conscious growth, and inner peace is the easiest and most fulfilling way to strike a balance in life. Things can get hectic quickly and if we don’t take time to balance out the energies (read: emotions) flowing through us, our minds can easily become clouded and the ebb and flow of life can become overwhelming.
Maintaining and honoring a daily spiritual practice can help us step back from chaos and realign with the peace and truth that eternally lives within us.
Below are five daily spiritual practices to help achieve inner peace that can be done in just a few minutes, each with minimal effort, but maximum results.
Daily Spiritual Practices to Achieve Inner Peace
Healthy Morning Routine:
No, you don’t have to wake up an hour earlier, which can be even more stressful, to develop a grounding and empowering morning routine. Beginning the day with affirmations, meditation or exercise will help set the tone for the day and allow you to leave the house with your head firmly on your shoulders and your feet planted into the earth - one step closer to inner peace.
Tip: This
morning exercise is done IN BED and will help energize you before you even have your coffee or take an invigorating shower. You’ll be ready to face the day with a smile and a peaceful heart.
Tea Meditation:
Herbal tea has been used since the dawn of time for its healing properties. But beyond drinking the tea, tea meditation before consumption and appreciating the scent, sensation and taste will help the body consciously absorb its nutrients.
Tip: After brewing a cup of
hot herbal tea, hold the mug in both hands, feeling the warmth. Bring it close to your nose and allow the steamy scent to encompass your senses. Take 5 seconds to simply be present. Honor the journey the herbs took to reach you and thank Mother Nature for her bountiful healing.
Find Bliss in White Noise:
When babies are born it is common for parents to use sound machines to help them fall asleep and sleep soundly. We call this white noise. There is supreme bliss in white noise and listening to soothing sounds of nature, breathing, humming or chanting can reconnect us with our spirit and wash away unnecessary or incessant thoughts to help achieve inner peace.
Tip: Meditate with the
sound of nature (or whatever deeply resonates with you) whenever you need to recenter and release before moving on. This allows you to go to your “happy place” and momentarily disconnect from the demands of reality.
Nighttime Calm with Essential Oils:
By the time we get into bed we may often realize that it’s the first time we’ve stopped all day. As scent is directly connected to the brain, essential oils can be greatly useful in calming, centering and rebalancing our busy minds before drifting off to sleep.
Tip: Put
calming essential oils in a small glass spray bottle, mixed with water, and spray on your face, pillow and around the bed before going to sleep. You can also dab essential oils directly on your third eye, under your nose and on your temples. Allow the scent to fully encompass your senses as you release the business of the day.
Mindful Exercise:
Belly Button Healing, a type of mindful exercise, has
many benefits, but one major benefit is the calming of the mind and the cultivation of deep inner peace. It only takes a few minutes a day to reap the rewards of this simple method, and the results can be felt long after.
Tip: Practice Belly Button Healing in the morning, evening or throughout the day when you need to regain composure or just when you have a few minutes between tasks. Energy flows where the mind goes, and when you consciously stimulate the navel, healing energy is quickly propelled throughout the entire body.
There are many ways to develop a daily spiritual practice for achieving inner peace, but at the root of them all are dedication, willpower and mindfulness. If you make the time to continuously show up for yourself, your mind and body will receive the message of commitment to personal growth through self-love.
