3 Steps to Revive Your Spirit for the New Year

As we prepare for another year to come to a graceful and intentional close, we must also consider how we want to feel as we enter into a new year.

For many, 2016 was a year full of ups and downs, trials and tribulations—not unlike most years. But each year, you are gifted the beautiful opportunity of being able to start anew and release what no longer serves us. This annual reflection offers a chance for growth, laser focus and clear intention.

Rather than become consumed with what you didn’t achieve this year and what you want to achieve in the next year ask yourself, “How do I want to feel?” Working through the energy of those emotions will undoubtedly help you determine if what you’re striving for is in alignment with your authentic self, or if you’re operating from a place of lack or societal pressure.

3 Steps to Intentional Reflection

Reflect on 2016 and prepare for 2017 with mindful intention that is in complete alignment with your spirit–the real you–in these three steps.

  1. Emotional Alignment with True Self
    Taking a step back to reflect on the previous year’s occurrences is a gift in itself. Sticking with the feeling of each event will bring you great insight. In this way, you’re not thinking about whether or not your goals were met, but rather whether or not your emotions and authentic self were satisfied.

  2. Revitalization of Your Spirit
    When you give your soul the chance to just be, you may realize that what you considered to be a complete and utter failure actually turned out to be the best gift of the year. It is in acceptance of what is, that we find freedom for authentic interpretation. This allows your spirit to dream again and to take the reins of your life, rather than giving all the power to your mind. The spirit loves permission to lead and thrive–revitalize it!

  3. Recalibrate Your Inner Compass
    We are all fortunate enough to be led by a force that comes from within–our inner compass. Your inner compass is your intuition which has no choice but to be in alignment with your higher self. It guides you through life and gives you warning signs, red flags and full on emergency alerts when you stray too far from your path. You can recalibrate your inner compass by completing the two prior steps, and then by simply sitting with yourself in meditation. This allows your inner compass the space and silence it needs to speak to you and through you. It will guide you and lead you in a direction that will create the best outcome.

These 3 steps will help you feel your way through your past, present and dreams for the future. You are not meant to think your way through life, but rather to feel your way through life. We are all infinitely powerful beings and much of this power comes from our intuition. Utilizing it to reflect on, and respect, the past will allow you to move forward in your desired future with grace and clarity.
