Obliterate Your Limiting Beliefs to Thrive in 2017 Beyond

For many, a new year acts as a reset button for life. Working with this palpable power, and choosing consciously to do so, is also a wonderful opportunity to release what may be holding you back from your limitless potential for abundance–health, wealth, love etc.

We are all riddled with limiting beliefs that don’t allow us to come into our full power. These thoughts, based in fear, hang over our heads like torrential storms and begin to root into our psyche to the point that we actually believe them to be true.

But what exactly are limiting beliefs? Here’s some examples of thoughts you may have that are considered limiting beliefs:

I’m not good enough to do this job.
I’m just not a creative person.
I always mess up love so I’m not going to try anymore.
I’ll never make enough money to do what I want.
This job is just a paycheck and that is fine with me.
I’m not good at making friends so I’m better off alone.

Any of those sound familiar? We could go on with examples for days, but you get the idea. You begin to believe that you can’t/won’t/shouldn’t/will never and that holds you back from mustering up the courage to face your fears and just try.

So this year, obliterate your limiting beliefs and allow yourself to thrive with these three steps!

  1. Awareness: The first step is awareness and acknowledgement of the beliefs you’ve furiously clung to. Be real and raw in acknowledging what you’ve allowed to govern your mind. Go deep, into the dark crevices of your soul. It may be scary to go there, this is true, but you are absolutely capable of making it out alive. Hold these beliefs in your heart and your mind’s eye and really see them for what they are–illusions of the mind and a disconnection from your intuition. Feel them. See them. Hear them.

  2. Obliteration: Write everything down. Go back to the beginning of why you adopted these beliefs and get it all on paper, in your handwriting. Once you see these laid out, kindly bid them adieu from your life and tell them there is no longer space in your consciousness for demons like them. Acknowledge that they do not serve you and for that reason, you are finished with allowing them to live rent free in your temple. Now burn that paper (in a fire safe bowl) and watch as your fears, self-doubt and lack of belief in your power rise to the heavens and leave your life.

  3. Meditation: Ground down into the unconditional, loving energy of the earth. In a quiet place, sit comfortably on the floor or in a chair and take 3 deep breaths–completely filling your abdomen with fresh oxygen and releasing as much air as possible, getting every last breath out of your lungs. Envision you are like a tree with roots that are sinking into the earth, to the fiery core of our planet. Draw energy from this infinite source of power and know that you are capable of anything you set your mind to. Fill the space where the limiting beliefs once took residence in your heart and soul with the love of our planet. Close this meditation with 3 more deep breaths and say “thank you” to yourself for having the courage to face your fears.

The amazing thing about these 3 steps is that they can be done absolutely anytime you feel the grips of fear creeping back into your mind. You don’t have to wait for a new year or a major event to honor the fact that you are slipping back into the darkness.

It is here, in the pitch black of your soul, that you will grow the most and become better at nipping your fear in the bud–before it even has the chance to enter the immaculate garden of your potential.
