There are many different types of yoga out there. You can learn it from videos, classes at your local gym, retreats, yoga studios, and even from books.
Change Your Energy founder Ilchi Lee developed his own form of yoga based on ancient body-mind-energy practices from his native Korea. Called Body & Brain Yoga, many of Change Your Energy’s yoga courses and live Saturday classes are based on it. Now, the practice’s essential principles and exercises are available in a new book titled
Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi: A Beginner’s Guide to Holistic Wellness by Body & Brain Yoga Education (Best Life Media, March 2020).
Body & Brain Yoga aims to open the energy channels and energy centers in the body so that vital energy—called qi, chi, or prana in Asia—flows in a smooth and balanced way. It does this through mindful stretching, joint rotation, vibration exercises, breathing exercises, and energy-sensing meditations. Healthy energy flow in the body, according to Asian medicine, is the foundation of all wellness—of body, mind, and spirit.
Included in the practice and introduced in the book is tai chi, a form of energy training with set movements that flow with the energy of life. Like the yoga exercises, Body & Brain Tai Chi forms “promote the health of body and mind and harmonious living through conscious concentration, movement, and breathing,” according to the book.
Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi describes the major exercises of the practice through step-by-step instructions and full-color photos. Anyone can use it to practice on their own or supplement what they learn at a Body & Brain Yoga center.
There are currently over 600 Body & Brain Yoga centers around the world, with active participants in eight countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Belgium, Poland, and Russia. Centers in the United States can be found at
