"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light."
—Helen Keller
Week 3: Determination
There will be days when you feel like your goal is out of reach, or even impossible. Those are the days when it is important to recognize the role that faith plays in your success.
Some associate "faith" with religious belief or mistake it for fatalism. But "faith" is far grander and a more powerful connection to the pulse of life within us all. Without faith our dreams do not take shape; our hopes go unfulfilled and our ideas remain just that—ideas.
When you begin to recognize yourself as a creator of life circumstances, then faith will make sense. When you "see" something in your mind with a feeling of certainty about it, you are more likely to "see" it in reality. The feeling of certainty is reinforced by repetition. That is the power of the human mind.
Remember, faith is your ultimate creative tool. Achievement of your goals is much closer than it seems—especially if you practice feeling the achievement.
You can activate this power right now. You already have the necessary experience, sort of. You see, we all have practice with the magical power of faith in reverse. Do you remember a time when worrying contributed to the occurrence of the very thing you feared happening?
If you think about it, worry is a full-time, full body sport. You feel it in your head, in your shoulders and in your gut. Try this with something positive.
Got your goal? See the outcome in your mind. How does it make you feel? Would you be smiling if it came true?
Feel your future success in your head, in your shoulders, in your gut and any other part of your body. Maybe you will feel like dancing. Do you jump up and down when you are happy and successful? Do that now.
Moving Mediation
A helpful meditation to tap into your body’s natural healing energy is literally that—tapping. To release stagnant energy, increase circulation, reduce stress and grow your body awareness you can try full body tapping.
Starting at the top of your head, tap your scalp, face, and neck with your fingertips. Exhale with all of your attention. If you come across an area with increased pain, you can tap there longer and with a little more vigor. Most importantly, listen to your body’s cues.
Use your palm to lightly tap all of the tension out of your shoulders. Now do this down your arms. Begin tapping your chest with open palms down your abdomen, hips, and legs.
Focus on exhaling, blowing old stagnant air out of your lungs as you release the stagnant energy in your body. Keep doing this for three minutes.
Stop
Stand or sit, slowly, and take 3 deep breaths. Relax and feel the sensations all over your body. Notice any place that feels different—lighter, cooler or even warmer. Smile as you imagine or look at those parts of your body.
Affirm
Finish your meditation by saying this affirmation three times:
"I am open to positive thoughts about myself and about my future. My life has infinite possibilities for peace and joy!"
