Advice From a Nurse Practitioner Yoga Teacher to Effectively Beat Cold Flu Season

Most people expect to fall ill at least once during the winter due to the influx of germs and viruses floating through the air and a weakened immune system. In the height of flu season, it seems like everyone you know is affected in some way by a crippling cold or the full-blown flu.

But rather than accepting this time of year as unavoidable and just part of being human, you can actually take matters into your own hands to fight it, and win.

We spoke to Lea Ramos, owner of Rainbow Clinic & Holistic Yoga in Nevada and Board Certified Advance Practice Registered Nurse, on how she advises her patients and students on beating cold and flu season naturally.

She said, “High stress, lack of sleep and processed foods will make anyone’s immune system weak and that’s when the opportunistic viruses take hold. You’ve got to keep the immune system strong and the lymph nodes active year-round and then you’ll beat flu season no problem.”
